Meet Kat
WHo Am I?
Hi guys! My name is Kat Wilks. I'm a true northern girl, full-time psychiatric nurse by day, sports fanatic by night. I am truly inspired by all things sport.
Growing up in Peterborough, I was influenced by my father to get involved with teams and try new sports. I think it is safe to say I was a pretty big tom boy. I’ve always felt myself energized by the passion and competiveness of the games. From running and yoga to golfing and soccer, sport has been my go to way to recharge and enjoy life. ‘Dark Side Picks’ was born to celebrate all sports, with me highlighting the games I love most. Check out my articles and vlogs and drop me a message to let me know what you think!
My inspiration
My biggest inspiration in the world of sport has been my dad Rick, (seen here to my right, with the great George Chuvalo on my left). He is my inspiration for wanting to start my blog.
My father has always been a bit of a character. He grew up in the Beaches in TO, back in the day when they still had the horse track. I would tag along with my dad, a couple of bets on the ponies here and there, if you catch my drift- all in good fun. He's a hard working family man, no nonsense, straight shooter kind of guy who always seems to light up the room. My dad has always been a football lunatic known for making bets with his buddies. A real guys guy who enjoys watching the game and yelling at the wide receivers to run faster. This has always been one of our favorite past-times, watching football and laughing together on Sundays.
